For design software in particular, I’d like to get some feedback about the interest (or not ?) of using electrical CAD software for electrical distribution switchboards (main switchboards and sub-switchboards), versus using a standard CAD software as I do today : Autocad or equivalent

How can define the curent carring capacity of copper /alumunum busbar?
Busbar calculation formulas or tables, which you can find here and there, are just very rough estimation methods to give you an idea of the copper cross-section required for the nominal current you need. But they give values which are very approximate, generally not optimized, for sure not guaranteed for the actual normal service & prospective fault conditions, and not taking into account short-circuit withstand level or the max acceptable temperature and quality of the busbar supports you are using …
I recommend that you refer to the international standard IEC61439-2 related to Power switchgear & controlgear assemblies, which defines how to design and verify LV assemblies in a safe way.
You may also suggest to your consultant, if he wants to get safe and reliable switchboards, first to ask for switchboards compliyng to this standard, second to ask and check certificates proving this compliance.
